Milestones & Mileage: A Semi-Annual Update

THE FOLLOWING IS AN ARTICLE WRITTEN BY ALI KRISHNA DEVI DASI, A DISCIPLE OF HRIDAYANANDA DAS GOSWAMI.

As we begin another year in the service of Srila Prabhupada and H.D. Goswami, I am thrilled to announce the launch of our new Krishna West website!

The building of this website marks an important milestone as we begin to implement H.D. Goswami’s vision for Krishna West. While new Krishna West projects are being established, the website will serve as Krishna West’s primary online outreach tool for connecting with the Western world. H.D Goswami offers his sincere gratitude to all the devotees who contributed to the new website.

Krishnawest.com was appropriately scheduled to launch on the glorious Appearance Day of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Please pray that Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai will continue to empower H.D. Goswami’s efforts to expand ISKCON’s Western preaching mission. Please also pray that our enthusiasm to assist Srila Prabhupada and H.D. Goswami will infinitely increase with every day.

In this regard, I would like to recognize our godbrother, Dhananjaya das, whose steady enthusiasm and determination has resulted in his second publication of H.D. Goswami’s teachings. Featuring several of H.D. Goswami’s most popular lectures, translated into Portuguese, and expertly organized, the new book is called Razão & Divindade – Uma Abordagem Histórica, Filosófica e Social (Reason & Divinity – A Historical, Philosophical and Social Approach). Thank you, Dhananjaya! All glories to your service!

For those of you following updates concerning Krishna West and the GBC’s recent request of H.D. Goswami to cancel his European speaking tour this summer, I am happy to inform you that many misunderstandings have been resolved. In several weeks, H.D. Goswami will sit down with a GBC committee to alleviate any remaining misconceptions concerning Krishna West. H.D. Goswami continues to be loyal to Prabhupada’s ISKCON and is grateful to receive encouragement from the devotees for his endeavors to establish Krishna West.

On March 12, 2014, H.D. Goswami began a 3-week lecture tour across the U.S. He will be speaking at various universities and home programs in the following cities: Green River (Utah), Boulder (Colorado), Lawrence (Kansas), Murfreesboro (Tennessee), and Chapel Hill (North Carolina). Please contact local devotees in each area for more information if you would like to attend one of these programs.

Regarding H.D. Goswami’s much anticipated publications, including his recent translation of the Bhagavad-gita and his transcribed Religions of India classes, both manuscripts are currently in the able hands of a professional editor. The Bhagavad-gita is projected to be published and made available for purchase this summer. The later book project will be completed by the end of this year.
Furthermore, I would like to announce several service opportunities that are now available. First, we are looking for an online media archives manager. This service involves collecting, editing, and posting H.D. Goswami’s recent and archived lectures and requires proficiency in audio editing and FTP management.

We are also looking for two or three devotees in the Gainesville/Alachua area to help with our media digitization project. Basically, we are in the process of digitizing hundreds of H.D. Goswami’s master tapes and archived lectures. This service involves organizing and cataloging each tape into a database and assisting Gargamuni das, our godbrother, who is organizing the project.

Last, we are looking for contributing authors, artists, cooks, and musicians for KrishnaWest.com. We are especially seeking talented writers who can draw from their professional experiences and devotional realizations to share Krishna consciousness with contemporary Western audiences by addressing topics such as spiritual life and family, relationships, health, finances, etc. In addition, we are looking for contributors to write monthly articles featuring devotee chefs, musicians, artists, authors, project leaders, community members, etc. In this way, we hope to appeal to wide audiences by offering a personal glimpse into devotees’ lives, practice, joys, hardships, and accomplishments.

Please contact me if you are interested in taking leadership and offering these much-needed services. H.D. Goswami is exceedingly grateful for your help.

In honor of Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s Appearance Day, I conclude this update with a bhajan sung by H.D. Goswami, featuring his English translation of Narottama dasa Thakura’s “Gauranga Bolite Habe” (AKA “Lalasamayi Prarthana”). Please listen HERE. The original Bengali lyrics and additional commentary by Srila Prabhupada can be found HERE.

Happy Gaura Purnima & Hare Krishna!

Your servant,
Ali Krishna devi dasi
