Chawton, England

Dear Devotees,

Jaya Prabhupada! Krishna has arranged that tomorrow evening I am flying to India to attend the GBC meeting in Ujjain, hosted by this yearโ€™s GBC chairman Bhakti Caru Swami. He and Praghosha Prabhu have made sincere efforts to facilitate this meeting.

My close associate Brahmatirtha Prabhu has kindly agreed to attend the meeting as well. I want to assure all of you that my purpose is to do all I can to united Prabhupadaโ€™s servants so that we can work peacefully together for his pleasure and the good of the world. I will meet with a smaller GBC committee to hopefully work out an agreement, and then we will all meet at the plenary GBC meeting. I am scheduled to leave India very early in the morning of Oct 18.

I know that you share my hopes for a successful meeting that will help unite Prabhupadaโ€™s servants.

With best wishes,
Hridayananda das Goswami

On June 15, I will drive from the Pisa area, where I will visit my dear Godbrother Matsyavatara Prabhu, and stop for the night near the French border. On June 16, We will drive to a devotee community in Mirepoix, south of Toulouse and stay there for 3 days.

On June 19, we will drive to Dijon, to another devotee community, and on June 23, we go to Paris for four days where we will do programs with the many devotees there.

On June 27, we will take the train to London, spend a few hours with the Krishna West devotes, and then take another train to a preaching center in the Newcastle/Durham area of England.

On June 28, Bhaktivinoda Dasa will drive us to Scotland, where I will do programs for several days.

Around July 1, we will drive to the coast of Scotland and take a ferry to Ireland, where I will stay for about one week.

Then I will fly to Lisbon for one day, and from there to Natal in Northeast Brazil, where I will rest and write for about one week and then do some programs with the devotees there.

Dear Devotees,

Jaya Prabhupada! Greetings from Caesarea, Israel. After almost three weeks of intense preaching in Boston, England, Belgrade, and Istanbul, I am now able to rest in a beautiful house kindly arranged for me by my dear and very intelligent disciple Taruni DD.

I am still doing occasional Skype classesโ€”last night for a University in Pachuca, Mexico; and tonight in English, hosted by the devotee community in Wichita, Kansas, led by my old friend Hladini Shakti Prabhu.

Krishna is forcing me to rest, as I am recovering from a common cold. I am eager to get back to writing. After spending a few months in Israel, I will make my way back to England, Scotland, and Ireland, and then proceed to Brazil.

Thank you all for your kind support.

With best wishes,
Hridayananda das Goswami

March 27, 2017

Dear Devotees,

Jaya Prabhupada! I have only very good news to report. On March 13th, one day after a blissful Gaura Purnima festival, I flew to Charlottesville, Virginia and rested in an apartment in the beautiful countryside with Jagannatha Dasa.

On March 18th, I flew to Boston where I visited Harvard and met with my old professor. He told me that Harvard is willing to publish my doctoral dissertation. In the afternoon, dozens of devotees came to my hotel room for an ecstatic darshana. That night I flew to London.

Without doubt, London is one of our best Krishna West programs. There is a core team of excellent devotees, led by Yadavi DD. London is a very busy city, and so I am staying in Alton, just a short walk to a charming village, Chawton, where the famous author Jane Austen completed all of her celebrated books. There are extraordinarily beautiful places to walk and talk about Krishna. Many English devotees came to my programs here, including a number of godbrothers. There is keen interest in Krishna West.

In general, I find the English devotees, and the English people in general, to be unusually kind and hospitable. There are many favorable devotees in Scotland and Ireland as well, and I will visit those places when I return from Israel, on the way to Brazil.

Our last major program here will be Saturday, April 1st, in London. The local GBC, Praghosha Prabhu, has been kind and supportive.

With best wishes,
Hridayananda das Goswami

Dear Devotees,

Jaya Prabhupada! Greetings from Chawton, England. I arrived here yesterday, Sunday, and will be staying in this lovely village for another 11 days. There is much interest in Krishna West in the United Kingdom and many devotees are coming for the few programs we will have here.

Chawton was the home of the famous author Jane Austen, and next Saturday, March 25th, I will give a lecture here on Jane Austen and Sri Krishna.

We are taking many walks in the charming English countryside, and the local people are very kind and welcoming. Last Saturday, on the way to England, I stopped in Boston and several dozen devotees came to see me. We had an excellent discussion of how to present Krishna consciousness in the Western world.

Krishna is blessing me with health and happiness. I pray that He bless you in the same way.

With best wishes,

Gaura Purnima 2017

Dear Devotees,

Jaya Prabhupada! I wish you all a very happy and empowering Gaura Purnima 2017. I will personally celebrate this event tomorrow at Holmby Park in Los Angeles, near my residence.

The next day, Monday, I fly to Virginia to refocus on my writing. On March 18th, I will fly to London for a two-week writing retreat near Jane Austenโ€™s house in Chawton, Hampshire. We will do programs on March 25th in Chawton, and April 1st in London.

On April 2nd, I am scheduled to fly to Belgrade for two days of programs, then one day in Istanbul. I will then fly to Israel where I plan to do a two month writing retreat.

After that I may stop in Italy and France. I will stop in Ireland, and then probably fly to Brazil.

May Krishna bless us all!

With best wishes,

Prabhupada on Religion & Philosophy

THE FOLLOWING IS H.D. GOSWAMI’S 3-PART RESPONSE TO AN ISKCON FORUM DISCUSSION ON JANUARY 25, 2017

ย What qualifications do those who judge our preachers need to properly evaluate what is appropriate preaching and what is not?

When the topic is raised of disciplining and controlling the content of our preaching, we must also consider to what extent the judges precisely understand all aspects of our philosophy.
Prabhupada often stated that religion must not sever its tie with philosophy. A study of Prabhupadaโ€™s teaching on โ€œreligion and philosophyโ€ shows that by โ€˜philosophy,โ€™ Prabhupada did not mean, for example, the Western philosophical tradition, nor any Eastern tradition, but rather the ability to think and speak in a logical, rational way, and to put forward cogent arguments based on all relevant evidence.
