Dear Devotees,

Jaya Prabhupada! My body is now 76 years old, and with my remaining time in this world, I am very anxious to complete two essential services:

1. I must finish Great Bhārata which will be approximately 6 volumes.

2. I must finish books that defend Lord Caitanya’s philosophy in serious philosophical language.

These essential services will take several years to complete, if I significantly reduce, or give up, other activities. If I do not significantly reduce or give up other activities, I probably will not complete these all-important services. There is a well-known Vaiṣṇava principle, taught by many ācāryas: ānukūlyasya saṅkalpaḥ, prātikūlyasya varjanam — “Accept what is favorable and reject what is unfavorable [in service to Lord Kṛṣṇa.]

At present, I spend more time answering letters — email, Whatsapp, texts etc — than I do writing. I fear that at my present rate, I will fail to complete my service goals. I’m sure you understand that I must therefore dramatically reduce the time I spend on letters and messages, in order to fulfill my duty to Prabhupada and Lord Kṛṣṇa.

Of course I also want to fulfill my duty to my disciples and aspiring disciples. Disciples with legitimate emergencies, and also aspiring disciples can write to me. I request that devotees write to me only on truly essential matters. Devotees with philosophical or scriptural questions should write to me only after they have tried to find answers to their questions by every other means, such as studying and researching Prabhupada’s books, my books, and other Krishna conscious texts, or consulting with my senior disciples, or other advanced devotees. Also, this system must apply to all forms of communication, such as, texts, whatsapp, email etc.

I plan to regularly send you information about my progress and I may occasionally give a class. Please know that I care very much about you, and I am simply trying to serve you, ISKCON, and the world in the best way possible.

I am confident that the saintly devotees will understand my situation and help me to complete my essential service to Prabhupada and to you. My sincere thanks.
